Risen Christ

No longer in the tomb, Jesus is alive.

The Sabbath had passed, and now it was the first day of the week. The two Mary’s and other women came to the tomb where Jesus had been laid to anoint His dead body with the fragrant oils and spices they had prepared for His burial. They found the large stone in front of the entrance of the tomb had been rolled away. The Roman guards were nowhere around…something was strange about that!

Cautiously, the women approached the tomb. Once inside they could see the body of Jesus was gone! They looked at each other in horror. “Where is He?” they asked each other. One of the women cried out, “Someone has stolen His body!” Suddenly, as they were perplexed, two men appeared by the head and foot of the rock slab where Jesus’ body had been stretched out before. The two men wore garments that shone brightly and they appeared as angels. The women were frightened and bowed their heads to the earth. The angels then asked, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!”

The women remembered what Jesus had said to them days before; “The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again!” This was the third day!
Back in the village, the apostles could not believe what the returning women were telling them they had discovered at the tomb. Peter, one of the apostles, ran as fast as he could to the tomb to see for himself if what they had said was true. Nearly, falling down inside the tomb from his exhaustive race, Peter found the linen cloth which had been draped over Jesus’ body and the folded napkin which had covered His head lying on the stone slab. It was true! Just as the Savior had said He would, He rose from the dead. He lives, He lives! Thank God Almighty, Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior lives today! (A re-telling of the wonderful story from the Bible).

“And they were all amazed at the majesty of God” (Luke 9:43).

APPROVED

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). (2 Timothy 2:14-26) instructs those whom He knows are His ; and don’t we aspire to be recognized as such, to be approved by God? He tells us to avoid godless chatter (gossip), because we will become more and more ungodly. God warns that what we say can affect others, even destroying the faith of some. Heaven forbid we should say anything to do such damage!   Approved we flee the evil desires of youth we pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. We don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments because we know they only produce quarrels. As God’s servants we mustn’t quarrel; instead we must be kind, able to teach, and be not resentful.   Approved we are to gently instruct those who oppose us, hoping God will grant them repentance and lead them to the knowledge of His truth. Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
