Well Done

God’s criteria for success

What makes a person successful? We hear these wonderful stories of some young man or woman, who comes out of college, starts up an entrepreneurial business of some kind, and in five or six years they are worth millions! Then, there is the sports hero who is given a contract for one hundred million dollars to play baseball for ten years! We think now that’s being successful. No doubt about it these folks are very fortunate, but are they successful in God’s eyes? Maybe not, you see God views our success differently.

The world defines success by the accumulation of money, honor, position, prestige, power, and material things regardless of what it has cost the person in terms of their personal life, their family, or their spiritual life. God considers a person successful when they are fulfilling the purpose He has for their life. Successful Christians are those who come to know their calling, understand their special gifting, and faithfully stay with God’s plan for their lives.

What is God’s criterion for reward? “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Hearing these words from God’s mouth is every Christian’s desire. Scripture [Matthew 25:21] tells us those words are told to those who faithfully use what they are given, who are reproducing more, and prospering in alignment with God’s plan.

A successful person according to God’s standard is one who is committed to God, has found his calling, is progressively fulfilling it by keeping with God’s Word, will, and His way. God has a purpose for each of us. Are you fulfilling yours? If you don’t feel like you are; stop, pray, and listen, ask God to allow His Holy Spirit to give you His will for your life. I believe as you do, God will speak to you. He did to me.

Part of my own calling to ministry for God is writing this blog each morning. I am successful because God told me to write this blog, and I do, cheerfully and enthusiastically! And, you know what? The Holy Spirit is so faithful to always, always give me the idea, and the material for the next blog message. I just show up (usually 4-5 AM) each morning, open my laptop and start typing. He feeds me what He wants me to say…I just keep typing until He says…stop!

God knows the plans He has for you (Jeremiah 29:11.) His plan is for you to be extremely successful – are you ready to fulfill your destiny?

APPROVED

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). (2 Timothy 2:14-26) instructs those whom He knows are His ; and don’t we aspire to be recognized as such, to be approved by God? He tells us to avoid godless chatter (gossip), because we will become more and more ungodly. God warns that what we say can affect others, even destroying the faith of some. Heaven forbid we should say anything to do such damage!   Approved we flee the evil desires of youth we pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. We don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments because we know they only produce quarrels. As God’s servants we mustn’t quarrel; instead we must be kind, able to teach, and be not resentful.   Approved we are to gently instruct those who oppose us, hoping God will grant them repentance and lead them to the knowledge of His truth. Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
