“What would you like for Christmas?” It’s a fair question when you’re looking for gift ideas to buy for those you love. It can be a tough question to answer though for a lot of us adults. Most of us don’t have a clue. Many of us are so busy preparing for Christmas we haven’t taken the time to think of what we want. I pretty much already have everything I want, so I can be difficult to buy for.

Generally, kids are pretty quick to tell you what they want. You ask, they’ll tell you straight away! What it costs, or how difficult it might be to satisfy their desires doesn’t seem to matter much, after all it’s Christmas and getting gifts is what it’s all about…at least to little kids. I was once a little kid; I’m sure you remember being a kid and having your Christmas wish list too.

Okay, so let’s play like you’ve just asked me what I want for Christmas.

Here is my wish list:

  • The first day of Christmas I would like all wars to end, and there be peace on earth, good will among all people
  • The second day of Christmas families everywhere would have their sons and daughters back home healthy and safe to stay
  • On the third day of Christmas the homeless finally find their happy homes
  • The fourth day of Christmas hungry people around the world are constantly fed
  • The fifth day of Christmas new jobs are there for those who want them
  • The sixth day of Christmas every new mother looks into the face of her healthy,  happy newborn baby, and her husband, the baby’s father proudly and confidently stands beside them
  • On the seventh day of Christmas my true love tells me of the joy we share
  • The eighth day of Christmas new beginnings are off to a wonderful start for all
  • The ninth day of Christmas the last drug addict and alcoholic have successfully recovered from their addictions
  • On the tenth day of Christmas families everywhere are reunited
  • The eleventh day of Christmas faith is restored to all who suffer and they are healed of all their diseases

And on the twelfth day of Christmas I wish for God to get His wish…that all His people realize how much He loves them, and they accept His Son, Jesus Christ as their personal savior!
Here's hoping I get everything on my Christmas Wish list!

Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

By His Authority

God has given His authority. God’s plan for authority has been given to His people: authority in the church (1 Peter 5:1-2) which says, “shepherd the flock of God which is among you;” authority in the home (Colossians 3:18-25,) “Wives submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord, as is fitting in the Lord;” authority in your workplace (Ephesians 6:5-9) “Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters…; and authority in civil government (Romans    13:1-7) “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God….” Authority as planned by God seems awkward and unfitting in today’s societies – not that His plan is inappropriate, certainly this is not true. It is more that people have deviated from God’s plan to what seems more suited to their personal lives for whatever reasons they justify. It is it any wonder we have dysfunctional families, government and na...

God’s Family

He provides resources for the family “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those whom call upon You” (Psalm 86:5). God’s plan for marriage and the family, in the Bible, is intended to be ideal, full of prosperity for every member. Would you say this describes your family? Maybe, maybe not, however, even if your family has missed His mark His Word deals with life realistically. Many of us experience some aspect of failure or serious disappointment with the way our family is living. Many families today are divided by divorce or living as single-parent family units. God alone can provide the needed resources and the loving care vital for the needs of these families who are dealing with life. If you are having trouble in your family turn to Jesus. He is your primary resource for forgiveness and your hope for renewal (Ephesians 1:7).   He forgives no matter if the failure is yours or it is one of those times when someone else fails yo...
