When People Say They Hear From God

When Christians say they hear from God, what do they mean? Most Christians when they say the Lord spoke to them don’t mean they actually heard His audible voice; although I believe God does allow us sometimes to hear His voice. Rather, they are saying the Lord has spoken, or communicated with them through their innermost being, allowing them a supernatural understanding of His will. Believers in Jesus Christ receive His Holy Spirit, and His Spirit dwells within our hearts, ever present to lead and guide us according to God’s will for us. The leading of His Holy Spirit in our lives (is) His voice to our spirit. This same Holy Spirit is our leader, our guide, as well as our teacher who directs our path in life according to the will of God.

God did not leave us alone to fend for ourselves. No, He gave us His “love letter,” “His Word" the Bible and He uses this to speak to us. There have been times when I have read a Bible verse and it seems as though it was written just for me for that particular time in my life. You can probably say the same thing. And, then there are those times when in church the pastor’s message touches you in a way unlike you’ve experienced before. These are some of those times when the Holy Spirit is “knocking on your door” so to speak. At times, God will speak to you when you’re doing something wrong, or He will give you confidence about something He wants you to do like praying for a friend or helping someone in need.

As Christians, we want to hear from God. We want to know He is in charge of our lives, and that He loves us enough to be involved in (all) we do. If you have trouble hearing God’s voice pray for the sensitivity of His Holy Spirit so you can be aware of all the ways in which He “speaks.” Always be alert to what He communicates to you, what you hear must agree with what His Word (Bible) says, or else it is not He who is speaking to you. Satan also wants to get your attention. He will attempt to speak to you as well. Remember the purpose of Satan in this world is to; steal, kill and destroy. Satan’s voice only brings trouble in your life, it robs God of His one true love; YOU.

APPROVED

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). (2 Timothy 2:14-26) instructs those whom He knows are His ; and don’t we aspire to be recognized as such, to be approved by God? He tells us to avoid godless chatter (gossip), because we will become more and more ungodly. God warns that what we say can affect others, even destroying the faith of some. Heaven forbid we should say anything to do such damage!   Approved we flee the evil desires of youth we pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. We don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments because we know they only produce quarrels. As God’s servants we mustn’t quarrel; instead we must be kind, able to teach, and be not resentful.   Approved we are to gently instruct those who oppose us, hoping God will grant them repentance and lead them to the knowledge of His truth. Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
