The Joy in My Heart

“With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12:3).

Salvation is such an incredible gift of God. Knowing I am not lost brings me such joy that I have to share it, to tell others about it. Yet, this joy provides such a wonderful state of mind it’s kind of hard to describe. Last night, my wife and I had some dear friends over to worship with us in our little chapel, here at The Sanctuary at Camilla. We sang some of our favorite praise songs, talked about our shared love of Christ, prayed for our different family members and friends, and just spent this wonderful time loving the Lord. It was such a joy!

The Lord has given my wife (Sally) and me a great thirst for drinking of His living-water that flows from His well of salvation. We enjoy sharing this special water with others.

Knowing the Lord as we do, and appreciating the joy we have in Him; I look back to the time when we didn’t know Him. That was a time when we were likened to an dried-up pond. We were not satisfied with life. At that time, we followed after the world more. We were not different from a lot of people; yet we were missing this awesome feeling of peace and joy in knowing Christ like we do now. Admittedly, I wasn’t all that happy back then either. The most important piece of our life-puzzle was missing! We needed Jesus! I am  thankful God didn't give up on us back then, and that He continued to seek us even when we weren’t seeking Him. Thankfully too, Sally and I found our missing puzzle piece together, at the same time back in 2001. Our worship experience is now incredible! God has blessed us in many awesome ways since we turned our lives over to Him. We now joyfully share in His ministry, and He includes us in His plans. We are blessed!

What joy He provides to those who willingly accept Him. His Word, the Bible is full of expressions of His love for you and for me. Will you search them out? When we call upon Him, you and I can know He is always there! He fills our cup up to overflowing. Oh, what joy!

Do you share this same joy? I pray you do or that you can. Jesus said to the Samaritan woman at the well; “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water I will give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:13, 14).

Peace.

APPROVED

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). (2 Timothy 2:14-26) instructs those whom He knows are His ; and don’t we aspire to be recognized as such, to be approved by God? He tells us to avoid godless chatter (gossip), because we will become more and more ungodly. God warns that what we say can affect others, even destroying the faith of some. Heaven forbid we should say anything to do such damage!   Approved we flee the evil desires of youth we pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. We don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments because we know they only produce quarrels. As God’s servants we mustn’t quarrel; instead we must be kind, able to teach, and be not resentful.   Approved we are to gently instruct those who oppose us, hoping God will grant them repentance and lead them to the knowledge of His truth. God’s Family

He provides resources for the family “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those whom call upon You” (Psalm 86:5). God’s plan for marriage and the family, in the Bible, is intended to be ideal, full of prosperity for every member. Would you say this describes your family? Maybe, maybe not, however, even if your family has missed His mark His Word deals with life realistically. Many of us experience some aspect of failure or serious disappointment with the way our family is living. Many families today are divided by divorce or living as single-parent family units. God alone can provide the needed resources and the loving care vital for the needs of these families who are dealing with life. If you are having trouble in your family turn to Jesus. He is your primary resource for forgiveness and your hope for renewal (Ephesians 1:7).   He forgives no matter if the failure is yours or it is one of those times when someone else fails yo...
