Angels: God's Messengers

“Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing some have unwittingly entertained angels “(Hebrews 13:2).

We may not know all we would like to about angels; but the Bible makes ninety-one references to them. Since God’s Word is true I do believe in these powerful, holy beings (2 Peter 2:11; Luke 9:26). They don’t have physical bodies as we understand. Most of the time they are invisible to the human eye; however, sometimes they appear glorious with the light of God surrounding them (Matthew 28:4). They appear sometimes in human form (Genesis 19). I believe God sends them to us to confirm His holy presence in our lives.

A couple of years ago, I had a dream in which a homeless man appeared; walking with a crutch. In my dream, I was to give him a Bible with a ten dollar bill tucked inside it. The next morning, on my way into town I passed a homeless man on the left side of the road, he was standing there propped on a tree limb which he was using as a crutch. I drove on past him but suddenly remembered my dream the night before. In a Spiritual awareness God spoke to me saying “This is the man I showed you in your dream.” Well, I turned around and went back to the man. I looked for one of my little New Testaments I keep in my glove compartment for handing out but they were all gone. I then looked in my wallet for a ten dollar bill but all that I had was three one dollar bills and a twenty. I reached for the three ones and God said, “No, give him the twenty!” Of course, I did as God told me. After leaving the man I drove maybe a block and turned around not believing what had just happened. I had just lived out my dream! When I looked for the man he was gone! In a matter of ten or fifteen seconds he had disappeared! To this day I still believe he was an angel testing my willingness to be faithful to what God had called me to do.

In his book, Angels: God’s Secret Agents, Billy Graham said, “We may not always be aware of the presence of angels. We can’t always predict how they will appear. But angels have been said to be our neighbors. The Bible assures us, one day our eyes will be unscaled to see and know the full extent of the attention angels have given us (1 Corinthians 13:11, 12). “

God watches over us, and I believe He sends powerful His angels to encourage us and to help us know His will for our lives. I thank God for His holy messengers.

God’s Family

He provides resources for the family “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those whom call upon You” (Psalm 86:5). God’s plan for marriage and the family, in the Bible, is intended to be ideal, full of prosperity for every member. Would you say this describes your family? Maybe, maybe not, however, even if your family has missed His mark His Word deals with life realistically. Many of us experience some aspect of failure or serious disappointment with the way our family is living. Many families today are divided by divorce or living as single-parent family units. God alone can provide the needed resources and the loving care vital for the needs of these families who are dealing with life. If you are having trouble in your family turn to Jesus. He is your primary resource for forgiveness and your hope for renewal (Ephesians 1:7).   He forgives no matter if the failure is yours or it is one of those times when someone else fails yo...

APPROVED

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). (2 Timothy 2:14-26) instructs those whom He knows are His ; and don’t we aspire to be recognized as such, to be approved by God? He tells us to avoid godless chatter (gossip), because we will become more and more ungodly. God warns that what we say can affect others, even destroying the faith of some. Heaven forbid we should say anything to do such damage!   Approved we flee the evil desires of youth we pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. We don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments because we know they only produce quarrels. As God’s servants we mustn’t quarrel; instead we must be kind, able to teach, and be not resentful.   Approved we are to gently instruct those who oppose us, hoping God will grant them repentance and lead them to the knowledge of His truth.
