Upgrade to a Better Life

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).

Be blessed by choosing Him instead of the world.

We live in a world that is constantly being “upgraded” as computer technology likes to refer to it, faster modems, sharper images, more memory. And pharmaceutical companies will upon the people’s desire for the latest pain reliever, the most effective tension reliever and a colorful pill that helps us overcome whatever imagined or natural physical limitation we may have. More! Faster! The best! The latest! We are trying to run down a hill faster than our little legs are capable of. We’re an accident waiting to happen! Most of what ails us can be attributed to the unreasonable life choices we have made in the past and those we continue to make. We want to play football at sixty with kids who are sixteen. We want to lift twice as much weight at the gym as our neighbor can. We want to remain mentally sharp at work even though we can’t sleep at night for worrying about the mounting debt we are acquiring because we are spending more than we earn. Wait! Stop world! I want to get off! Is the world tugging at your nose ring?

Overcoming the world is a constant battle if we want to live according to the will of God; which I believe He has most intelligently designed for us -- knowing what is absolutely best for us! Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:28, 29). These are the truthful words of a Savior who loves and cares about our personal health and welfare. We need to listen to Him!

We will relieve most of our pain and discomforts by increasing our faith in God, and we can avoid many of our serious diseases by simply following the teachings of Jesus instead of listening to the temptations of the world around us. Life choices! God gives us freedom to make them, but when we make bad ones we can expect to pay for them. Our minds and our bodies are to be living sacrifices to God not the world! God is not asking the impossible of us; we are allowing the world to expect it of us.

Today, make a better choice in Him and live healthier, happier, and longer!

Our Walk With God

“Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered, when you run, you will not stumble” (Proverbs 4:10-12). Our lives are built upon our first step, and   then proceed step after step after step thereafter. As infants we learn to crawl, then stand and eventually to walk to the waiting hands of our proud fathers and mothers. Our walking skills can develop into running skills; some of us will go on to run races, some will even run long distance marathons, but it all begins first with our desire to walk. The Lord tells us to listen to what He says to us through His Holy Spirit and the years of our lives will be many; as we go through life, our steps will not be hampered; when we hurry through our impossible daily schedules and race through our lives, we will not stumble.   All successful runners have a professional trainer, our trainer is ...

Breaking The Silence

The house is quiet, the dogs are asleep, and my wife is gone for the morning running her errands. The lonely silence gives our home a feeling of emptiness that seems to cry for noise or activity of some kind. What do I do to fill this void? I could turn on the TV – not much on this time of day though. I know; I’ll put on a CD. How about a little "Stones.", ZZ Top or perhaps some Van Halen; all good driving music, but what makes us feel like we have to fill the silence of our homes with noise or some other distraction? Is it because we fear loneliness? We miss a tremendous opportunity to have an intimate relationship with God at times like I just mentioned if we choose earthly substitutes instead of a Spiritual involvement with our Creator. God created us to be involved with Him, to have a yearning for His awesome presence. No music, TV or hobby can truly fill the voids we feel when we are alone. Only He can satisfy our need. Yet, don’t we try to keep busy and fill the airwa...
