Blessed Assurance

Haven’t you heard people say; “I’m a good person, I’ve never stolen anything or intentionally hurt anyone. I’ve never killed anyone or anything bad like that.” Others have said; “Look, I go to church every Sunday and I read my Bible, I think I’ll be going to heaven.” Unfortunately, unless they tend to one very important detail they will never see heaven. Being a good person, reading our Bible and going to church every time the door is opened won’t get us into heaven! Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). Only by making a commitment to personally accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior can we be sure of our eternal destiny in heaven.

There are many good, church-going people who lack this blessed assurance and their perspective of life is affected by this lacking. How can we experience the joy of the Lord if we are not sure of our salvation? How can we have salvation if we don’t completely trust in our Lord Jesus?

To have salvation we must trust Jesus, we must confess our sins to Him, ask His forgiveness, believe that He died on the cross, believe that He is the Son of God, and ask Him to come into our hearts changing us forever to be more like Himself.

You may wonder what does salvation have to do with healing? God through His grace and mercy may choose to heal those who have not accepted His Son for reasons that are His alone. He is a loving God! This life we live is very short; our bodies and health are not perfect; we all suffer from one thing or another. When we die as born-again Christians having invited Jesus into our hearts and confessed our sins to Him, when He comes again we will arise with Him to heaven with perfect bodies free from all disease, sorrow and pain! So, salvation I believe has everything to do with healing. Invite Him into your heart now; His healing is everlasting!

APPROVED

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). (2 Timothy 2:14-26) instructs those whom He knows are His ; and don’t we aspire to be recognized as such, to be approved by God? He tells us to avoid godless chatter (gossip), because we will become more and more ungodly. God warns that what we say can affect others, even destroying the faith of some. Heaven forbid we should say anything to do such damage!   Approved we flee the evil desires of youth we pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. We don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments because we know they only produce quarrels. As God’s servants we mustn’t quarrel; instead we must be kind, able to teach, and be not resentful.   Approved we are to gently instruct those who oppose us, hoping God will grant them repentance and lead them to the knowledge of His truth. Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
