Heaven is not some fantasy destination. It is a very real
place. So unimaginably, beautiful and grand our earthly minds cannot begin to
comprehend its splendor! We can read in Revelation 21 and 22 that it is a
walled city with very definite dimensions. There are twelve gates, the tree of
life, the river of life, and many streets and buildings made of gold with
inlays of precious stones. God’s awesome glory is the only light needed to
illuminate His heavenly city! Time has no measure there. Jesus offered His
disciples hope and encouragement concerning His death, resurrection and
ascension into heaven so they would not be worried or confused about His death.
As He explained to them; He was leaving earth for a special place with God, His
Father. He told them He was going to prepare a place for His followers so that
they could be with Him in heaven.
Thankfully, Jesus did not leave us stranded, and alone. Absolutely
not! Death has no victory for believers in Jesus Christ! We read with all faith
and knowledge of His promise; “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe
also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would
have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there
you may be also” (John 14:1-3). What
a wonderful Savior you are Jesus!
We all have fear and doubt. They are not strangers to anyone
of us. Some of us fear the unknown, sickness or dying. We hear of death almost
every day it seems.Regardless of what our fear is though, all fear is based in
our lack of trust and dependency on God. As we focus on God and His love for us
we are not afraid, no matter what the circumstances are; (1 John 4:18) “There is no fear in love; but perfect love
casts out fear.”
