The Lord's Prayer; your prayer

“When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly” (Matthew 6:6).

God is listening…He will answer your prayer of faith.

Our Father…

In (Matthew 6:9-13) Jesus gave His disciples His model for their prayers to God, their heavenly Father. We know His model as; The Lord’s Prayer. We can certainly use these exact words or we may use the structure of this perfect prayer as a model for our approach to God in our prayers. What is important is that when we pray we; (a) praise God (b) acknowledge and submit to His will (c) request His provisions for our lives (d) seek His forgiveness (e) ask Him for deliverance from temptation.

The Lord’s Prayer confirms for us that God is interested in all aspects of our lives. Our praise and worship of Him in prayer demonstrates how we bow to His authority, His position as our Lord and our Savior, and when we submit ourselves to Him He allows us to come boldly before Him with our petitions.

As we pray; “Our Father…” what a personal, intimate approach we are making to God. In the first four gospels, Jesus referred to God as Father. He did so more than seventy times in these gospels. This was radical and new since in the Old Testament times it was forbidden to say God’s name (YAHWEH) much less to refer to Him as Father.

May I suggest you take a moment to pray The Lord’s Prayer right now, and as you do carefully consider the full meaning of the every word you are praying. I think too often we ramble it off in church without thinking of what we are actually saying. Don’t be guilty of praying like that instead pray with all knowledge of what you are saying, of what you are asking of God.

God is listening.

Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

In Heaven

We will experience a sense of perfect joy There will also be perfect peace and fulfillment because of the divine presence of God. Our worship of the Father will be without distraction. Forever and ever we will concentrate our worship only on Him; our loving, caring God who is, and was, and forever will be our Creator and Sustainer. Never will we experience exhaustion as we serve and interact with Him on a very personal level. “And His servants shall serve Him” (Revelation 22:3). In Revelation it is revealed we will govern with Christ and rule over all that is brought under His dominion. “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall rule forever and ever!” (Revelation 11:15). And it is written; “And they [his servants] shall reign forever and ever” (Revelation 22:5). Ours will be a perfect fellowship like that of the Father and the Son. “That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they may also be ...
