The Spirit of God

The Holy Spirit is God. “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:2). He is the third person of the Trinity. He is the one whom Jesus told His disciples would come and dwell in them; the same one whom God would send as a helper to reside in them forever. Jesus said, “The world will not receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you will know Him” (John 14:17). It is essential for us as Christians if we are to come to maturity in Christ to have a comprehensive knowledge of the person and the work of the Holy Spirit.

God’s Holy Spirit shares in the essence and power of God the Father, and Jesus Christ, the Son. He is eternal possessing all the attributes of God. The Holy Spirit is a person, one of three persons of the Trinity. He has intellect, emotions, and will. He speaks (Acts 13:2). The Holy Spirit is the one who calls us to God the Father convincing us of our need for accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior. He is also the one who brings unity within the body of Christ (the church) making a gathering of even two Christians unique before God (Matthew 18:20).

When we have the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives we present Christ-like qualities to a lost world. The Spirit illuminates our minds (1 Corinthians 2:10-12); He comforts us (Acts 9:31); He guides us (John 16:13); He sanctifies us (Romans 15:16); He gives us power and wisdom for witnessing (Acts 1:8); and when we are weak He strengthens us (Romans 8:26).

God desires to spend more time with you through your prayers. His Holy Spirit may even be convicting you right now to come to Him in prayer. Don’t know what to pray? This is the work of God’s Holy Spirit, when we don’t know what to pray He teaches us! Just begin to pray.

Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

In Heaven

We will experience a sense of perfect joy There will also be perfect peace and fulfillment because of the divine presence of God. Our worship of the Father will be without distraction. Forever and ever we will concentrate our worship only on Him; our loving, caring God who is, and was, and forever will be our Creator and Sustainer. Never will we experience exhaustion as we serve and interact with Him on a very personal level. “And His servants shall serve Him” (Revelation 22:3). In Revelation it is revealed we will govern with Christ and rule over all that is brought under His dominion. “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall rule forever and ever!” (Revelation 11:15). And it is written; “And they [his servants] shall reign forever and ever” (Revelation 22:5). Ours will be a perfect fellowship like that of the Father and the Son. “That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they may also be ...
