He Is Faithful

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23).

There is a half-acre pond on our Sanctuary at Camilla property which I had dug several years ago. When only rain water filled the pond, it took nearly six months for it to fill; I stocked the pond with hundreds of small fingerlings of Perch and Bass fish. Over the years, I have routinely fed these little rascals every afternoon as the sun’s shadows creep across the pond’s surface. My little fish know this is their feeding time, and they have come to depend on me to cast out their 7-8 hands full of dry dog food pellets. I guess you could say I have promised to feed them like this, so when I get to the water’s edge each afternoon my little fish are already there swimming back and forth anticipating the scrumptious meal they have been patiently waiting for. The food barely hits the water’s surface and there is a splashing and thrashing of hundreds of hungry fish eager to eat. I think they know I am faithful to be there at the pond every day for them.

Like my little fish who continue to hold on to their hope in me, and the promise I have made to feed them; I believe we continue to hold unswervingly to the hope we profess in our God. We know we can trust Him to be faithful because He has promised us He would be.

In verse 25 of (Hebrews 10) it says; “Let us not give up meeting together…but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” I watch my little fish, and this Scripture comes alive for me. They meet together (schooling) swimming back and forth hoping their provider will come and take care of their need. And, their coming together each afternoon like this paradoxically affords them their mutual encouragement that the one who is faithful will be there for them. God is exactly like this! He is always faithful to be here to take care of us.

“Let us be faithful, just as He is faithful.”

APPROVED

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). (2 Timothy 2:14-26) instructs those whom He knows are His ; and don’t we aspire to be recognized as such, to be approved by God? He tells us to avoid godless chatter (gossip), because we will become more and more ungodly. God warns that what we say can affect others, even destroying the faith of some. Heaven forbid we should say anything to do such damage!   Approved we flee the evil desires of youth we pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. We don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments because we know they only produce quarrels. As God’s servants we mustn’t quarrel; instead we must be kind, able to teach, and be not resentful.   Approved we are to gently instruct those who oppose us, hoping God will grant them repentance and lead them to the knowledge of His truth. Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
