He Who Dwells In The Shadow

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91).

Many years ago, my family and I rented several cabins on Lake Texoma; a very large lake on the Texas and Oklahoma border. We also rented a small boat to get us out to a little island where we could fish and swim. This lake is so big it almost generates its own weather. In the hottest part of the summer large thunderstorms develop almost every afternoon.

One of these afternoons while we were out on our little island we watched a huge storm develop in the distance and we decided to leave the exposed island and return to the mainland and to the safety of our cabins. It took us two complete trips to get everyone and all our gear back ashore. The last trip was real scary as the storm was already upon us, but we made it just before large rain and hail started to pound us. We gathered what we could from the boat and what we had set on the dock and ran for the nearest shelter; we didn’t have time to make it to the cabins. Instead, we ran for a public restroom which we knew was made of cinderblocks and concrete. We figure this was the safest place to hide from the storm. We barely got everyone, all our gear and our little dog into our shelter when a tornado ripped through the campground and we watched the little boat we had tied to the dock get sucked up into the storm. For a while we were terrified and worried we might not survive. We were so thankful for the safety of the shelter we had found though! Thank God after the storm passed we were all together safe and alive!

Where is the safe shelter for us to run to when frightening storms of life bear down on us? Where shall we rest? The LORD says in today’s featured Scripture those who dwell in His shelter will rest also in His mighty shadow. As I consider this Spiritual fact I envision a downy little eaglet hunkered down under the wings of its strong parent as a fierce summer storm tries to blow the little eagle’s nest apart. All the while though, the little one knows it is safe there under the mighty wings of its parent. So are we also safe up under the wings of our heavenly Father. He is our shelter our strong tower; He is our refuge and our fortress!

He is our God, in Him we trust.

God never changes who He is

The popular cry of the people here in America today is for “change.” Yet in some parts of the world there are those who use all means, including terrorism to resist it. There are some people who are determined to leave ancient traditions, and often times, corruptible governments just as they are, and have been for hundreds of thousands of years. Many of these nations do not recognize God. God is always the same; today, tomorrow, and forever. He never changes; this knowledge about Him enables us to have total reliability in Him. His character is as follows: God is omnipotent . All power is His, and nothing is beyond His control. He enforces His perfect will. He is unstoppable by any force in heaven or on earth! God is omnipresent. He is everywhere imaginable and unimaginable all at the same time! No person or place is beyond His presence. Space and time are before Him always. He determines everything for all places and all persons. God is omniscient. All that is happening to all ...
Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

God’s Family

He provides resources for the family “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those whom call upon You” (Psalm 86:5). God’s plan for marriage and the family, in the Bible, is intended to be ideal, full of prosperity for every member. Would you say this describes your family? Maybe, maybe not, however, even if your family has missed His mark His Word deals with life realistically. Many of us experience some aspect of failure or serious disappointment with the way our family is living. Many families today are divided by divorce or living as single-parent family units. God alone can provide the needed resources and the loving care vital for the needs of these families who are dealing with life. If you are having trouble in your family turn to Jesus. He is your primary resource for forgiveness and your hope for renewal (Ephesians 1:7).   He forgives no matter if the failure is yours or it is one of those times when someone else fails yo...
