Jubilant Song

“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the LORD” (Psalm 98:4, 5).

Here is one dictionary’s definition of the word jubilant: uttering songs of triumph; shouting with joy; triumphant; exulting.

Loving the LORD as we do, don’t we just want to sing out our praises to Him? Joyful music lifts our spirits. It did for King Saul for the Bible says in (1 Samuel 16:23) “Whenever the spirit from the God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.”

The Bible says that when the Spirit of the LORD departed Saul an evil spirit from the LORD tormented Saul. The King’s attendants advised Saul to send for a musician to play joyful music. They told him of a shepherd boy named David who was a talented boy musician. He did and whenever David played his harp Saul would feel better!

Music is tonic for the soul, it has been said. Joyful music played and sung to the LORD pleases the LORD. I live with a testimony of one woman who loves to sing praises to the LORD. Sally, my wife, sings and plays with our church’s praise team. There is nothing that will fire her spirit like jubilant singing to the LORD. She becomes a foot taller, and the smile on her face radiates a contagious joyfulness it’s hard not to get caught up in all her jubilance! People tell me so all the time.

I just know that jubilant music played and sung to the LORD has got to be one on the most powerful, and effective ways of getting God’s attention. Do you have a problem you’re dealing with now? Would you like to feel better about it? Sing a jubilant song to the LORD, and I believe He will fix your problem.

APPROVED

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). (2 Timothy 2:14-26) instructs those whom He knows are His ; and don’t we aspire to be recognized as such, to be approved by God? He tells us to avoid godless chatter (gossip), because we will become more and more ungodly. God warns that what we say can affect others, even destroying the faith of some. Heaven forbid we should say anything to do such damage!   Approved we flee the evil desires of youth we pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. We don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments because we know they only produce quarrels. As God’s servants we mustn’t quarrel; instead we must be kind, able to teach, and be not resentful.   Approved we are to gently instruct those who oppose us, hoping God will grant them repentance and lead them to the knowledge of His truth. Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
