By hearing and
speaking His Word we are healed
We asked if he had accepted Jesus as his Savior and he told us he had years ago. This was important for us to hear and we were glad to know he had. I remember we asked him if he believed God could heal him and he said, “Yes” he did. We asked if he could accept God will and manner of healing and again he answered “Yes.” We led the whole family in prayer for this man’s miraculous healing, laying hands on him and anointing him with oil. I happened to have my tallit (Hebrew prayer shawl) with me and read to the family how the woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment was healed by her faith (Matthew 9:20-22). Bible scholars believe Jesus’ garment to be His tallit – Jewish men traditional wore them and they are considered significant in the Jewish faith.
The man we were praying for asked if he could wrap himself in my tallit. I told him by all means and I wrapped it around his shoulders. The man’s expression was instantly of great joy, and he showed indications of increased faith. I left him the prayer shawl believing it to be my gift to him. The man lived for nearly a year and a half always giving us his good news and good health reports during his healing. He had the most incredible faith I have ever seen! I know God healed him for a period of time that allowed the man to be with his family for many more months than two or three. During this longer period of time, this man-of-faith witnessed to many, many other people in our community.
The man I spoke of possessed great faith. Because of his faith, I believe God gave him his “life-wish,” for the extended period of time that God and he could accept.
Several years ago, a woman whom we had been introduced to
through a friend asked my wife and me, if we would come to her home and pray
for her husband who was dying of pancreatic cancer. We did. I remember it was a
very difficult meeting as several of the dying man’s family also met us there.
Everyone was understandably grieved and we all cried tears to ourselves. The
man was very near death and his appearance showed it as he was very thin, pale
and emaciated. He was devastated by his doctors’ diagnosis; they had told him
he only had two or three months to live. I remember the man telling me it was
all so quick he didn’t feel he had time to accept dying.

God loves us so very much that His grace is just too indescribable! (Ephesians 2:8, 9) reveals; “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it
is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” In fact, I
hope you will read all of (Ephesians 2:4-10) as I believe we need this
assurance God has given us in His Word.
