The Holy Spirit is a person
Equal to God the Father and Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
the Holy Spirit is a person and completes the third part of the Holy Trinity.
He has all the same attributes of God and that of deity. The Holy Spirit is
eternal, having neither beginning nor end. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and
omniscient meaning He is all powerful, everywhere at the same time, and
all-knowing.
Jesus stressed to His disciples the importance of the Holy
Spirit and taught them Himself how important the Holy Spirit was to a Christian
believer.
Here are some of qualities the Holy Spirit possesses: He has
intellect, emotions, and will. He also speaks (Acts 13:2), intercedes (Romans
8:26), testifies (John 15:26), guides (John 16:13), commands (Acts 16:6, 7),
appoints (Acts 20:28), leads (Romans 8:14), and reproves and convicts of sin
(John 16:8). He can be lied to and tested (Acts 5:3, 4 and 9), resisted (Acts
7:51), grieved (Ephesians 4:30), and blasphemed (Matthew 12:31).
Shamefully, many today minimize the personage and importance
of the Holy Spirit and only whisper in close circles His glorious name. He is
also known as; the Holy Ghost who’s other name is many times avoided by some
for reasons of maybe sounding too spiritual?
I ask; why should we not want to
sound, or appear to be too spiritual? Whose opinion of us matters most, mans’
or God’s? No contest here!
Jesus, before ascending to heaven, spoke to those who had
gathered before Him telling them the Promise
of the Father, (Holy Spirit) would soon come upon them. He told them as He
had been baptized with water by John, they would soon be baptized with the Holy
Spirit (Acts 1:5). True believers in Christ are therefore filled with the Holy
Spirit, as promised, and He (the Spirit) teaches us how and what to pray, as
well as equipping us for service with Christ. We are blessed to proclaim we
have the Holy Spirit within us.
”Lord, we thank You for Your Holy Spirit, and we now ask
that you allow Him to enrich our lives.”
