Infinite Mercy

A god of infinite mercy and compassion

Recently, at an outing our church was having, the weather was perfect, and there were outdoor games for all ages going on in the church yard. There was of course a game of “touch football” being played by mostly the teenagers. Along the invisible sidelines of the game, moms and dads, and grandparents watched and cheered for their players.

Once when the football squirted out of the hands a runner, it rolled and flipped toward the sidelines where a small boy of about two years came from out of nowhere and scooped up the ball. He was ready to be in the game and took off with the ball only to take a few steps then fall taking a roll himself. Everyone stopped and held their breath as the enthusiastic little player slowly got up crying and looking for his mommy! Mommy was immediately right there for him picking him up and dusting the dirt and grass off him. She smiled and wiped his tears and comforted him after she determined he was alright. Her compassion and love was right there when the little guy needed it.

God is like this. He understands what we go through and sympathizes with our weaknesses and our concerns. When we fall He gasps and holds His breath. He is moved. When we are troubled, He is sensitive to what we are going through. He is never too far away and is always ready to pick us up and dust us off. He loves us and cares so much for us He came to earth just so we can see how much He cares. He comforts us when we need Him. He understands and sympathizes with us when we feel pain and hurt. We can always take our troubles to Him and allow His gentleness, His infinite mercy and compassion to comfort us and bring us peace.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed” says the Lord, who has compassion on you (Isaiah 54:10).

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail (Lamentations 3:22).

APPROVED

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). (2 Timothy 2:14-26) instructs those whom He knows are His ; and don’t we aspire to be recognized as such, to be approved by God? He tells us to avoid godless chatter (gossip), because we will become more and more ungodly. God warns that what we say can affect others, even destroying the faith of some. Heaven forbid we should say anything to do such damage!   Approved we flee the evil desires of youth we pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. We don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments because we know they only produce quarrels. As God’s servants we mustn’t quarrel; instead we must be kind, able to teach, and be not resentful.   Approved we are to gently instruct those who oppose us, hoping God will grant them repentance and lead them to the knowledge of His truth. Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
