Down and Out!

Depression can be completely debilitating leaving a person feeling like they have been beaten almost to the point of unconsciousness thus; they feel or appear to be down and out; a term referring to when a boxer has been knocked down and is unconscious. This is a very sad state for a person to be in but, it can happen to any of us if we become overwhelmed with problems or depressing thoughts. We can be sure Satan is at the root of it all!

Depression is responsible for more pain and distress than any other affliction in humanity. An emotional condition, depression is characterized by feelings of hopelessness, inadequacy, gloom, dejection and sadness. When people feel depressed they tend toward confused thinking, lack of concentration and inactivity. They suffer from a negative self-image, accompanied by feelings of shame, guilt and are very self-critical. Again, Satan is at the root.

Some depression is physiological and may require professional medical attention, other times it can be the result of overwhelming life circumstances. Sometimes depression can be the result of unconfessed sin.

Are you struggling with depression? Your first step is to be certain of your relationship with God. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior? Maybe you have but still you are not sure where you are with God.

King David of the Bible in (Psalm 32:3-5) expressed his anguish when he was silent about his sin. Our symptoms of depression sometimes are the result of unresolved anger, resentment, self-pity, or other unconfessed sin. When we recognize and deal with our sin we can bring about real and lasting solutions to our lives. Proverbs tells us, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, / But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). Any guilt you may feel from unconfessed sin is the Holy Spirit convicting you to repent.

God wants us to be whole; healthy in mind, body and spirit, and in a closer relationship with Him. Seek Him, confess to Him anything that may be standing between you and Him. He will help you and remove all traces of depression. There is joy in the Lord!

Our Walk With God

“Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered, when you run, you will not stumble” (Proverbs 4:10-12). Our lives are built upon our first step, and   then proceed step after step after step thereafter. As infants we learn to crawl, then stand and eventually to walk to the waiting hands of our proud fathers and mothers. Our walking skills can develop into running skills; some of us will go on to run races, some will even run long distance marathons, but it all begins first with our desire to walk. The Lord tells us to listen to what He says to us through His Holy Spirit and the years of our lives will be many; as we go through life, our steps will not be hampered; when we hurry through our impossible daily schedules and race through our lives, we will not stumble.   All successful runners have a professional trainer, our trainer is ...

Confused By False Prophets

Paul, an apostle – sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father – “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel – which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!” “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:6-10). Matthew; the first book of the Gospels warns in (Chapter 7:1-5) “Watch out for false prophets.” Accurately, these are those who in our present time, like in the time of th...

Awake Out Of Sleep

“…it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed” (Romans 13:11). This verse from the Apostle Paul’s epistle to the Romans is where he was instructing them to put on Christ. He was illustrating that during the time of sleep we are in darkness, our works may be of darkness as well. He went on to say, the night is already gone , in other words before Christ we were in darkness hopelessly lost. Now that He is come and we know the truth of our salvation Paul is saying  it is time for us to wake up! Come out of our darkness, and put on the armor of light, Jesus Christ. We are to make no provision for the flesh for the flesh will only try to fulfill its lusts. This morning, unless we open our minds to the teachings of the Holy Spirit the world will start right in telling us what it expects us to be doing this day. Our night is over, we now have Jesus, He is our Morning Star, our hope, and He alone is the way . “...
