Time To Wake Up!

This morning, I am departing from my regular daily messages for what I believe is a Holy Spirit prophetic prompting. What I have received this morning and write is in the form of a very short fictional story. The title of my story is: "Time To Wake Up!" The little story hopefully helps us to realize Jesus is coming! Soon the evil of this world will bring on God's justice. We must prepare.

Brett Driscoll was slowly waking up, trying not to wake his wife Elizabeth, who was still sleeping soundly. Slowly, trying not to move the bed, he turned over to look at the clock on top of the dresser; it was only 4:18! It was too early to start coffee, but now he was fully awake. Just before he opened his eyes, he had been dreaming; something about him preparing to make a journey. Now that he was awake, he lay there in the quiet darkness. The chill of the night and the warm bed covers invited Brett to just stay in bed. His mind was already starting to get in gear though.  The dream, although he couldn’t remember much of it, had brought Brett’s consciousness to some stage of alertness. He wasn’t sure why. Something was different though about this morning, this day.
In (1 Corinthians 15:51-52) the apostle Paul speaks; “I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery:  We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.”
Brett wondered if there was anything alarming in the early morning Fox news that might give a hint to his concern for the uneasiness he felt, but he wasn’t going to turn on the TV, not this early in the morning! Besides, the news had already been disturbing for weeks, no months! “How might this day be any different?” He silently asked himself. There was something very different though about this day, he could just feel it.
“5:23 AM!” Finally, this was a decent time to get up, get the coffee pot brewing and start the day. The wife was awake. Her almost whispered voice asked, “Is the coffee started?” Brett told Elizabeth he had just started it, and he would bring her a cup after he made a trip to the bathroom. They were both now awake. Brett turned on the news. The Driscoll’s busy day had begun!
As the dark of night gave way to the light of morning, this day was starting out a little earlier than most, still it was just another work day. With the TV on now, Brett tuned to Fox News, it was the same old news: trouble in Egypt; Iran issuing new threats to the USA; a deranged man kills his kids and himself; a teenage girl disappears in Missouri; four thousand people laid off in North Carolina; the government announces it will borrow two trillion dollars to help pay the nation’s bills for three months; five new tunnels used by Mexican drug cartels are discovered in California; God’s name is removed from more national symbols and disallowed in public places; church attendance is at an all-time low; gays demand their right to marry should overrule what God created and ordained for one man and one woman; two men hi-jack an SUV at a gas station not realizing a ten-month old baby girl is in the backseat. Just another day; not quite!
Outside the Driscoll home a loud clap of thunder accompanied by a brilliant flash of lighting jarred the windows and walls, and caused Brett and Elizabeth to stretch out their arms to balance themselves.  It was if the heavens had split open all at once. “Whoa!” Brett shouted in shock. Elizabeth warned, “Brett, honey, that was way too close to our house!” Outside in the yard, the neighbor’s dog barked and kept on barking. The whole block suddenly lost all electrical power, and an eerie stillness came over the whole subdivision, most likely the whole town. Brett and Elizabeth couldn't have been aware that the sound of the lightning strike was heard not only on their street but around the world. And then, the whole earth gave a small wiggle, a hard shake, then a much larger, devastating jolt. Large waves suddenly rose up on the shores of every nation; the skies became dark in the east and the west; in China; in France; down in Antarctica; over the Great Barrier Reef of Australia; darkness covered the whole world. The moon turned blood red. Everywhere people of every nation, every faith and those who had long denied believing in God suddenly came to understand this was not just another day on earth! All grace had expired! All mankind now realized this was that tragic day so many had warned of throughout history. Today, Bible prophesy was coming true!
In that brief moment, before God’s justice was served, Brett grabbed Elizabeth’s hands and confessed to her; “Elizabeth, I am sorry, so sorry please forgive me? I love you!” and then…”in the blink of an eye.”

Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

Get Out Of Your Boat

In (Matthew 14:25) Jesus had told the disciples to get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side of the lake. The Bible says; He went up on a mountainside by Himself to pray. The wind was strong that night and the waves buffeted the small boat, tossing it to and fro. It would have been a frightening time to be out on the water; especially that late at night. The men in the boat trembled with fear, and when they saw Jesus walking out to them on the water they thought He was a ghost. Jesus assured them it was He and they should not be afraid. Peter, one of the disciples, said, “Lord, if it’s You, tell me to come to You on the water!” Jesus told him, “Come.” Peter stepped out of the boat, walked toward Jesus, but when he saw the wind; the Bible says, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Peter’s faith was strong, at first. He was walking on the top of the waves just as Jesus was, but the moment he allowed himself to think rationally instead of t...
