There is a sense of calmness in our spirit
At first, when we hear from God, we may discern conflict and
strife in what we are doing with our lives at the time. This may indicate He is
correcting us from some destructive behavior of ours. However, this will pass
as we listen, His voice then becomes more tranquil and our spirit becomes more
at peace. The apostle Paul referred to this peace as “the peace of God, which
surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7).
We all want to be free of worry, anxiety and frustration, I
know I do, but our lives can become complicated too easy. We tend to try to fix
our own problems, deal with our own heartaches and reject help from others.
“I’ll just do it myself!” we’ll say. Next thing we know we don’t even consult
the One who can help us the most; God!
In (Jeremiah 29:11) the Lord states what He is thinking
toward us, and what He wants to do for us, “
for I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace
and not of evil, to give you a future and hope.” Then He says, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you
seek Me with all your heart.” Reading this verse we can be encouraged to
realize that as we call upon God (pray), we can
expect to hear Him speak to us, maybe not in an audible voice, but in our
spirit or in other ways.
A person doesn’t have to be a Moses or a Saul to hear God’s
voice. He is the same today as He was and will always be. He speaks to all who
will listen. He will speak to you if will only seek Him with all of your
heart…then be quiet, patient, and listen!
