Listening To God

God speaks to us in many ways. Sometimes He communicates with us in an audible voice, or His voice may be heard in a spiritual manner, as an inner-voice, a significant thought. Sometimes we hear from Him in a single word, or several that just seem to come to us from out of no where.

A while back, I attended a men’s Christian encampment, there were many men there whom I did not know. For some reason,  one of the participants seemed to stand out from all the others. I could feel the Lord was telling me to pay special attention to this particular man, and I felt led to pray for him. I did, and I asked God to show me why He wanted me to pray for this stranger. Suddenly, three words came to my mind; spirit of fear. I had no idea why I was associating those three words with this man.

Later, as part of the program, we were all given an opportunity to pray aloud for something we wanted God to take away from us; an unpleasant memory, a past un-confessed sin, or whatever was keeping us from living as God intended. With all heads bowed in silient reverence, the man spoke out asking God to help him quit his smoking habit, and to take away his “spirit of fear.”  Coincidence? I don’t think so! I am convinced God was pointing this man out to me, and asking me to pray for what the man needed. I asked God to show me how to pray for this individual, and He did!

Nothing is more important, more necessay, or more rewarding than hearing God speak to us. However, to have a real conversation with God requires us to faithfully seek Him in prayer, then to be patient and listen. “Listening” can be difficult. I can get so busy at times, doing-for- God, I neglect to stop long enough to listen to what God may be telling me to do. I have to remind myself of this a lot. I only want to do what God wants me to do for Him, not what I want to do for Him.

(Deuteronomy 30:20) instructs us that we are to “…listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him. For the LORD is you life.” And, in (Hebrews 1:1-2) God assures us He speaks to us today; “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these days He has spoken to us by His Son.”  His speaking to us is always to benefit us – we are to listen and follow His voice obediently so that we may enjoy life as He intended. I am thankful He also calls us to serve Him in ways that are beneficial to our families, our friends, and even to a complete stranger!

So, stop, look, and listen for God’s voice. He wants to communicate with YOU.

Walk Of Faith

I wonder, do you think we miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are waiting to learn more of what God has planned for us? Truth is; God isn’t required to lay it all out for us. All He must do if He has a plan for our lives is to show us how and then enable us to do it. It seems when we don’t know all the particulars, life is too perplexing. We think, “ but I need to know just what God wants me to do.” Abram (later known as Abraham) probably had thoughts just like this. God asked Abram to go somewhere he wasn’t familiar with and he most likely thought of asking God, Lord, must I go somewhere I don’t know, can’t I just stay here in Haran? However, God’s plan for Abram was far greater than anything Abram could ever imagine. Our personal feelings, vision, and human reasoning will always get in the way of our walk of faith . God teaches us to have faith in Him by placing us in positions where our feelings, vision, and common knowledge don’t work for us. Haven’t you ex...
Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

In Heaven

We will experience a sense of perfect joy There will also be perfect peace and fulfillment because of the divine presence of God. Our worship of the Father will be without distraction. Forever and ever we will concentrate our worship only on Him; our loving, caring God who is, and was, and forever will be our Creator and Sustainer. Never will we experience exhaustion as we serve and interact with Him on a very personal level. “And His servants shall serve Him” (Revelation 22:3). In Revelation it is revealed we will govern with Christ and rule over all that is brought under His dominion. “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall rule forever and ever!” (Revelation 11:15). And it is written; “And they [his servants] shall reign forever and ever” (Revelation 22:5). Ours will be a perfect fellowship like that of the Father and the Son. “That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they may also be ...
