Depend on God not on material possessions. All that is, and was, and is to be is God’s. He created it all, and it all belongs to Him. We are only temporary caretakers of what we call ours. Our lives, our time, and our material assets are God’s gifts to us. We are accountable to God for what we do with them while we are here on this earth. Financial debt is a curse, a heavy burden, and God’s desire is that we are not under such a burden. “Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law” (Romans 13:8).
God does not want us to depend on all these material possessions we call; my, mine, or ours. Instead, He wants us to depend on Him! In (1 Timothy 6:17) it is written; “Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.” It is God who is rich, and who gives richly to us. All that we have in material possessions will one day quickly fade away but, His gift of eternity will never fade.
So, ask yourself, are you wise with your financial resources? Do you have a plan? God provides us wisdom concerning our finances when we ask Him for it. Pray for His wisdom in developing a budget. Ask God to point out those mature Christians who have demonstrated an ability to manage money wisely and seek their help. God expects us to tithe and give our offerings to His work here on earth. Keeping a budget and giving to God resolves many of our financial difficulties.
We are rich in more than material possessions, and God wants us to be good caretakers of all that He gives us. Even though we may not be wealthy in terms of cash or other financial holdings, God promises to meet our needs according to His riches (Philippians 4:19); “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
