Welcome To My Blog

My life, after finding Jesus, changed dramatically. I wanted to know more about him and his ministry. I read everything I could get my hands on back then. Later, I sought (my) ministry in service to this wonderful savior Jesus Christ. This blog is an archive of my years of Christian research. My blog also presents my personal experience working in the Gifts of the Spirit. As you click on my "Blog Archive," over three hundred different posts covering over ten years are there for your reference. Hopefully, this faith-based, reading opportunity fulfills your own curiosity and aids you in discovering more about your own faith in Jesus. God bless you.
T ortured By Rash: While serving as a local hospital chaplain, a woman I knew from church asked if I would visit her brother who was in the hospital. He was suffering with a mysterious rash that covered his body from the top of his head to the bottoms of his feet. Even after several tests his doctors still could not determine the origin or cause of the man's medical problem. This man was tormented by the urge to constantly itch. He was miserable! When I entered his room he was sitting on the side of his bed. It was easy to see he was deeply disturbed by his affliction. Telling him I was there because his sister had asked me to come, he told me; "yes," he needed prayer badly because this terrible rash was driving him crazy! Trusting the Lord that the man's condition was not highly contagious, and that I was on a mission for the Lord and therefore protected from any threat of catching the rash myself; I asked the man if I could lay my hand on top of his he...

Remember Church On The Lake?

Do you remember when Church-on-the-Lake was "on the lake" -- Lake Livingston, Texas? I guess it was around ten years ago, our church, COTL (was) actually on the lake! It was near the little town of Blanchard, next door to a boat marina. Inside the small church building, the sanctuary had large windows that faced the open waters of the beautiful Lake Livingston. And, outside on the water, fishermen in their sleek, super-fast, bass boats launched down the boat ramp -- jet-skiers and party boats loaded with bronze skin fun-seekers in tiny bikinis also slipped into the water! When our pastor (Ed Jennings) back then, would get up to preach, with this wild panorama behind him, it was hard to focus on his sermon message! Some how we managed though to hear "the Word" and still feel like we had been to church. The folks at Church-on-the-Lake, even back then, were some of the most friendly people you would ever want to meet. Now today, in our bigger, new building located o...

We Love Our Mothers!

My mother's name was Laura, she passed away in 1978 at the young age of 58. I loved my mother. My most precious memory of her is that she loved me! Always sacrificing, always patient, and always supporting whatever I wanted to do. Mother, was my great defender. When I wanted to learn to drive our car (a 1947 Chevy) at the young age of 12, my dad said NO!, but mother said, "Oh Bill, he's just curious, take him out to the car and show him how to shift the gears and where the pedals are." Dad did! I started driving alone at the age of 14! Mother would also insist dad take me to work with him on Saturdays. He was a mechanical draftsman. He taught me to draw when I was only seven there at his office each Saturday. Dad and I spent important time together; father and son, because mother encouraged us!  I remember when I first discovered little girls, and later, as a young teenage boy started to date, she would tell me before I left the house, "Melton, you be careful...

God Is Lord of All Creation

Before all creation there was God. God always was, and He will always be. God is the creator of all creation. As Creator He alone establishes what is right and what is just. God is the supreme judge of man and of all things man establishes; good and evil. Man is free to choose to believe God or not; nevertheless God is God. His Word is the very highest authority , none is greater or can replace His dominion over all creation. Still, God is the very essence of love and His grace endures forever. He is God of all mercy who loves us all, believers and sinners alike. Our world is in grave danger. Satan (the evil-one) is very active in our nations, our families, our schools and in our personal lives. Satan’s will is to humiliate God, rob God of His people and to destroy as much of God’s creation as he can before the coming of Christ; our Lord, our King and our eternal salvation.  Throughout all history, mankind has carved false images of deities, adopted demigods of all kin...

Here's a Funny, Manly Mother's Day Recipe!

Behind every good mother there's a good father ! At least there should be. I found this funny, delicious sounding recipe by Nicole MacLauglin of MY RECIPE YouTube fame, while looking for something easy I could fix my mother, SALLY CARR. Actually, she's not my birth mother. She's my wonderful, lovely wife. I know, at times, she looks after me like my mother. I don't mind, I do stuff just like I did when I was a small boy. I'm 80 years old but, hey, I'm still a child in some ways..."where's my underwear?; what's for lunch?; I guess I forgot to take out the garbage." You get the idea. Anyhow, look closely at Ms. MacLauglin in this video. See her husband? Enjoy the video and what he's preparing for her. LOL https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/mothers-day-breakfast-skillet

I'm Still Thinking About My Blog Content

Creating my NEW! blog is exciting! My past posts, some dating back to 2006, are still relevant and beneficial today. As I read through them now, I find them very interesting. I have to ask myself, "Did I write that?" Well, I typed the material, but the Holy Spirit was my valuable source for most all I wrote. I hope you check in with my blog regularly. If there is a subject you would like me to include in my posts please let me know. I will pray about your concern and let the Holy Spirit inspire us! May God inspire and protect you and your family in these difficult days.

It's Time I Reflect!

Over the years , I have written about many subjects. As I learned new things I wrote about many of them. I especially wrote when I was inspired by the Holy Spirit! At times, I felt silly and foolish, so I pinned those crazy thoughts as they came to me. When my serious side arose, I wrote some pretty serious stuff too! Like a chameleon, I can change when I need to. Well, I have dug up a lot of old "bones" out of my boney archive. So now, I want to share what I have found there gathering dust. Check out my archive. You might find something in there of interest. Who knows you may even remember reading some of these posts of mine that date back to 2011 and even before! Okay, dig in friends, and good luck finding you a big literary "T-bone!" Check back every once in a while. I think of you as one of my faithful readers, and I do, appreciate your interest!
Day before yesterday, I cooked up a pot of "killer" chili. Yeah, I know it's not winter and chili is better in the winter. I like chili all-year long. Well, my chili fixin' was killer alright, it tore our stomachs up something terrible. Yesterday, I was miserable all day. I was so wanting my day to be over - I wanted a new day without stomach problems. Every day, God allows us a "do-over" and we get a new chance at living. Today, thankfully, I am feeling over my chili malady and I (am) starting over. I have a new opportunity today to seek more of Jesus. First, I will pray for my family and friends that they see more of Jesus and that their lives and their today is better than yesterday. And then, I am praying our nation stops this political division and hatred that is sickening our people. God help us to love you more and realize without You we are lost. You are our new day and we praise You for it.

You Might Be Curious

When we "post" on social media, we are sharing our lives with our friends, family or the public. Okay, why would we want to post? I think we post to stay in touch or provide our readers something we think might be interesting or helpful. I know this is why I do it. I have always been interested in writing; I have dabbled in fiction; non-fiction and satire over the years; but always as a hobby. In 2002, I accepted the Lord Jesus as my Savior. Soon after, I wanted to share all the good things happening to me as a new Christian. God had given me my interest in writing; as well as other giftings, and then called me to use writing to communicate with others about Him. Social media can be a good medium for sharing the "Good" News. Many of us already post our faith on Facebook, Twitter and other venues. I too, enjoy reading my friends' inspired posts. Back in 2006, I started posting what I was being inspired to write for the ministry of our Lord. My page was and is:...

Look What I've Found

Jump in wherever you like, I think you'll be amused. If you like bookmark my page and let me hear your thoughts.
Over the past few years I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what He has given me; many times I was awakened in the middle of the night to write them down. I hope you will take look at these brief messages which can be found in the "sidebar" of this blog under the heading of "BLOG ARCHIVE." There may be something in these that personally speaks to you. I pray there is. Thanks for reading my blog and may God richly bless you.

Search the Scriptures

The Bereans sought the truth Berea (modern Verria) was located approximately 50 miles (80 km) from Thessalonica, a district of Macedonia (Greece.) The name means “place of many waters.” Mount Olympus, an extraordinary landmark, stood within view of what was once known as; Berea. This must have been a beautiful place to live as it rested between the sea and the mountains. The warm, ocean wind would have been contrasted by the chilly, snowcapped mountains in the distance. The Christians who lived there in the time of the apostle Paul were considered to be more noble than the Thessalonians. Why were the people of Berea considered to be nobler than the Thessalonians? As Paul preached to them they received the message with great eagerness, but examined the Scriptures every day to see for themselves if what Paul was saying to them was true. This story is found in (Acts 17:11). None of us is so learned concerning the Bible that we don’t need to search the Scriptures ...

Don’t Forget

Remember your last healing Have you ever prayed God would correct something in your life, and He did? Have you ever asked Him to bless you, or a member of your family, and He did? Do you remember your last healing? Many of us are guilty of having some really short-term memories; we forget all the good things God has done for us way too soon. It’s like we pray and pray because our problem or situation is very serious, and then faithfully God answers our prayers, then before long we’ve forgotten all about His special “gift” or His blessing. We go back to all the other things we used to think about, and now, that which we prayed for, and got , are no longer a problem for us, so we just forget what He has done for us. Shame on us! I am reminded by the Holy Spirit, it’s important that we stop and realize how complacent and forgetful we can be. I know I am guilty of forgetting His wonderful work myself. In fact, several weeks ago, I asked God to help me with an anxiety p...

God is Love

Whoever lives in love lives in God The word “love” is mentioned in the Bible over 500 times; God surely considers love essential to our lives. God is love. Without love we are lost. One of the first Scriptures in the Bible to stress “love” is (Deuteronomy 6:5) where Moses instructs us to; “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Love begins with God. “ We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Do you remember your first “love?” I do! Her name was Jeri and she was my very first “girlfriend” back in fifth grade. I would do anything to impress her, like try to kick the volleyball over the school fence, hang upside down from the monkey bars, and make strange “faces” for her. Back then I believed I loved her…I did as a 9 or 10 year old boy could. I made her several valentines that year even beyond Valentine’s Day! Now, fifty-something years later, I have a more memorable “girlfriend” and she is my lov...

I Declare

Calling things that are not as though they were We all have situations in our lives that we would like to see change. Maybe it’s unwanted debt, a lack of enough monthly income, a better relationship with someone, a desire to be healthier, or just feel better about our selves. It can be anything that keeps us from having the kind of joyful and fulfilling life God intends for us. We don’t have to be satisfied with our lack of these things. You have power over your life! You can have what you say. Most of the time we are defeated in our lives because, we believe and confess the wrong things. Our negative words hold us back in bondage as the enemy wants us to feel deprived of God’s provisions. He wants us to accept defeat. Jesus said in (Matthew 17:20), “…if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” In (Mark 11:22, 23), He said, “Have faith in God…I tell yo...
